For those that enjoy sun, beaches and boating, Elk Rapids is the place to go for serenity and solitude. Bounded almost entirely by Elk Lake, this village is situated on the east side of Grand Traverse Bay, south of Bass Lake and has Elk River running right through it. The coastal settlement covers one square mile and dedicates its scenic areas to public use, including forests, wetlands, fruit orchards and lakes. The Grace Memorial Harbor is considered one of the best in Michigan and has 220 slips for boat storage, offering easy access to downtown. Launch from this port into the public lakes of Birch, Bass and Elk to catch numerous types of fish, or gain entry into Lake Michigan. Swimmers and sun seekers can take in Memorial Park and Antrim County Park, offering several hundred feet of shoreline. After a busy day of being on the water, discover the unique shops, art galleries and nearby golf courses of Elk Rapids.
